Breathtaking cave-crossing in the bowels of the Basque coast that will not leave anyone indifferent, just speleology.
Laminetako Sistema is one of the most emblematic caves in Lea-Artibai. Action and beauty at its best.
Rivers, caverns, gaps, descents, climbs and lots of rock formations, provide for an adventurous and fun activity.
This cave is named after Lamiak. According to legend, these incredibly beautiful women spend the day combing their long blond hair by the riverbed, and are quite capable of captivating any man as long as he doesn’t look down at their feet, which is when he realises they are webbed.
This is a cave that is sure to have caught the attention of many, as the entrance is on the main road between Markina and Lekeitio, just after heading down the Milloi pass.
The route through this cave allows us to discover lots of different spaces within the one cave.
We start off at the most “active” area, shaped by the river waters, and follow it to the waterfall source. Then we climb up to fossil galleries where several climbs, gaps and other obstacles lead us through a maze of spectacular open caverns.
This cave is suited to the more adventurous of you, who want to experience a more advanced cave with many obstacles to overcome.
